DAY 1: PARIS
Boarding at 6:00 p.m. in Paris. Crew presentation and welcome drink. Dinner on board followed by a thematic presentation: “A Definition of Impressionism, its Origins, the Technique, and the Context”. Overnight stop.
DAY 2: PARIS, discover the Impressionists' favorite places
Full board on board. Guided audio tour of the Auvers-sur-Oise Château. An enjoyable stroll in the time of Impressionism will take you from the heart of Haussmann's Paris to the favorite places of the Impressionists. In the afternoon, visit of the Marmottan Museum in Paris, the largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet (museum closed on mondays, replaced by the visit of Parc de l'Orangerie). Return on board for a cruise on the Seine by night. Overnight stop.
DAY 3: PARIS - GIVERNY - In the footsteps of Claude Monet - VERNON
Full board on board. Morning spent cruising to Poissy. Second thematic presentation: “Claude Monet, the Quintessence of Impressionism.” In the afternoon, visit of the Claude Monet's house in Giverny. The artist spent half his life here, dividing his time between working on his garden, a living painting if ever there was one, and the great passion of his final years, the Water Lilies series. Return on board in Mantes-la-Jolie and continue on to Vernon. Overnight in Vernon. “guinguette” (French dance hall) evening on board.
DAY 4: ROUEN in the footsteps of the Impressionists
Full board on board. Morning spent cruising to Rouen, rich of a historic heritage represented by the particular label Cities and Countries of Art and History. In the afternoon, thematic guided tour of Rouen in the footsteps of the Impressionists (visiting the cathedral and the Impressionist collection in the Musée des Beaux-Arts). Gala evening. Overnight.
DAY 5: DUCLAIR - HONFLEUR
Full board on board. Morning spent cruising on the most beautiful section of the Seine, winding through sleepy villages which have inspired many a painter. Third thematic presentation: “The Geography of Impressionism: Paris and the Suburbs, Honfleur and the Norman Coast.” Arriving in Duclair and guided visit of the "Route des Abbayes" (Abbey Trail). Some abbeys are always monasteries, living being history of Normandy. Depart for Honfleur in the evening.
DAY 6: HONFLEUR - ETRETAT - the Alabaster Coast
Full board on board. Walking tour of Honfleur: the cradle of Impressionism where Boudin, Monet, Bazille, and Jongkind would meet at the famous Saint Siméon farm and try to capture the changing light of the estuary. In the afternoon, guided visit of the Alabaster Coast, the natural heritage of the Pays de Caux and the Seine estuary: Etretat and Fécamp. Overnight.
DAY 7: HONFLEUR
Buffet breakfast on board. Disembark around 9:00 a.m. End of our services.
